Black Cardamom, long a staple in African cooking, was originally used in India as a cheap substitute for green cardamom pods.
Black cardamom is aromatic with a hint of smokiness.
Camphor can be detected in its aroma.

For crushed seeds, simply open the pods, take out the seeds and grind in a pestle & morter for a fresh flavour.
