Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a perennial plant hailing form the far flung shores of places like India, Mexico & China.
Although we mention the word root here, we’re actually dealing with Rhizome (more or less the same thing, the hizome of a plant is like an underground stem). If you separate a piece of fresh ginger rhizome off, it will grow on as a new plant – our Ginger root is dried and will not do this though -.

This classic culinary herb has a lot of success when used to ease nausia, particularly motion sickness & morning sickness, and can be as effective as Dramamine (the popular pharmacological sea sickness tablet) without the drowsy side effects.

Ginger is actually pretty stimulating and warming for those cold winter mornings as it expands blood vessels to allow for easier circulation.

Ginger is also a great digestive tonic, stimulating the digestive tract, therefore soothing digestive problems and toning the intestinal muscles.

Ginger is also used traditionally for Osteoarthritis, often included in capsule form with Turmeric / Curcumin as well as Boswellia (Frankincense) – all said to relieve inflammation.
